The Ford Endowed Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis by the Hutton Honors College and are renewable. These scholarships are designated for minorities and women with special consideration given to Ford employees, their spouses, and children.
Eligibility
Prospective students who have been invited to become members of the HHC will automatically be considered for this merit award as part of the IU admission and selective scholarship application process. Children and spouses of Ford employees who are planning to attend IU Bloomington but are not entering the Hutton Honors College must have graduated high school with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.85 on a 4-point scale for scholarship consideration.
Current IU students who wish to apply must:
- be members of the HHC or a child or spouse of a Ford employee
- be enrolled full-time on the Bloomington campus
- be entering their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of undergraduate study
- maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or above
- must not have received an HHC renewable merit scholarship as incoming freshmen
- must demonstrate financial need
- Special consideration given to applicants with unusual circumstances, challenges, or hardships
Application
Applications are accepted year round. The average award amount is $1,000. If you are claiming a Ford Motor Company parent or spouse affiliation, you will be required to provide written verification of this affiliation. Please include the Ford Employment Verification Letter with your application.

The Honors College Scholarship Review Committee selects recipients on the basis of academic performance; the quality of thinking demonstrated in the personal statement and scholarship essay; unusual circumstances, challenges, or hardships as described in the essays; content of the letter of recommendation; and financial need as reflected in their IU financial aid package.
