IU Opera and Ballet Theater is offering HHC students a special, reduced ticket prices for all performances (except for The Nutcracker ballet) at the Musical Arts Center (MAC) during the Fall 2022 semester. The discount vouchers can be applied to one ticket per person. For any seat below the second balcony, for regularly priced performances, HHC students will pay $10. For the second balcony open seating, HHC students will pay $8.
You must stop by the box office prior to 5:00 PM on the day before the performance, at the latest.
Vouchers are available for pick up weekdays, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 5 p.m. in the Hutton Honors College, Room 115 B. To purchase the special price ticket, take the voucher to the MAC Ticket Office during box office hours, 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., weekdays, to purchase your ticket(s). There is a limited number of vouchers available through this program, so we encourage you to act promptly. Vouchers can be used ONLY for the performance of the date on the voucher. Pivoting: From IU to the CIA to big tech to published author
Christina Hillsberg, Indiana University and Hutton Honors College alum, will discuss how her time at IU prepared her for life as a spy and how the lessons and techniques she learned, as a spy and linguist, continue to play a role in her life as she has pivoted to a career in Big Tech, and then to a career as a published author and speaker.

TEDxIndianaUniversity has invited six speakers from around the world, from different fields and walks of life, to come to Bloomington and give TED talks at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater on Kirkwood Avenue. This is a TED-licensed event. A number of tickets are being offered to students in the Hutton Honors College.
If you are interested in getting a free ticket for this event, please submit the RSVP. Once the reservation window is closed on February 22nd, tickets will be available for pick up starting on February 23rd in the advising wing of the Hutton Honors College, weekdays, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 5 p.m. in the Hutton Honors College, Room 115 B. Only people who have submitted the RSVP will be eligible to get a ticket. (We'll have a list of the names.)
The guest speakers:
Rupert Murray is a documentary director and ocean conservationist who directed the filmed “The End of the Line,” the first global documentary about the effects of overfishing. Rupert will be showing videos from his underwater adventures and talking about different models and perceptions of the ocean.Charlie Walker is a British adventurer, writer, and public speaker who specializes in long distance and human-powered travel, most famously his 43,000-mile bicycle journey throughout 60 countries. Charlie will be sharing his experience with social isolation and the duality of perception.
Dr. John Lantos is a retired pediatrician, bioethicist, and professor at the University of Chicago. Charlie will be giving a talk on the complex perception of end-of-life care, exploring questions related to the physician-patient relationship and history of death.
Dr. Marccus Dwayne Hendricks is an Associate Professor of Urban Studies and Planning at the University of Maryland, where he applies community science to infrastructure issues. Marccus will be speaking about flood prevention infrastructure and its unique relation with marginalized communities.
Elizabeth Claffey is an Associate Professor of Photography at Indiana University and focuses on labor, identity, kinship, body issues, and institutional practices. She will be speaking about her interest in Elizabeth and will be presenting a visual talk focusing on her journey of creation and discovery.
Matt Sunbulli is the CEO and cofounder of Fishbowl, an application connecting professionals and allowing them to have semi-anonymous workplace conversations. Matt will be speaking about his entrepreneurial journey, speaking about the importance of a transparent world.

Symposium on Investigative Journalism
Students are invited to attend the Symposium on Investigative Journalism that will be hosted by IU’s Arnolt Center for Investigative Journalism on Thursday, Feb. 23, 1:30-7 p.m., in Presidents Hall in Franklin Hall. ESPN’s Paula Lavigne will deliver the keynote address at 5 p.m. Lavigne has covered sexual assault and other crimes in professional and college athletics, bribery in college basketball, fan food safety at professional ballparks, gambling on youth sports, fraudulent pro-athlete charities, athlete medical care, and many other topics in sports. Two panels will focus further on Investigative Journalism in Sports Reporting and on Emerging Models for Investigative Journalism with journalists from ESPN, ProPublica, Capital B, Investigate TV/Gray Television, and other media. Students are also invited to a Mixer with presenters, 6-7 p.m., in the Media School Commons, Franklin Hall. The symposium, which is co-sponsored by the Hutton Honors College, is free and open to all; and students are welcome to attend as much as their schedules permit. Registration for the Symposium is encouraged but not required.
