La Rondine. Music by G. Puccini. This bird you cannot change. Oh, what drama we can create for ourselves. (And if you know someone who hasn’t, they are probably very dull.) It’s just what we humans do—especially when it comes to love. The very naïve Ruggero falls for the very worldly, and receptive, Magda, a “kept” woman who longs for migration to warmth and happiness—like the swallow of the title. Their whirlwind fantasy romance ends, however, when Magda realizes that she will be condemned for her past by Ruggero’s family. In the end, like a captive bird, she flies back to her cage. IU Opera and Ballet Theater is offering HHC students a special, reduced ticket price of $10 to selected performances of operas and recitals. The discount can be applied to one ticket per person. Vouchers for this performance are good for open seating in the second and third balconies.
Vouchers will be available starting two weeks before the performance up until 4:00p.m. Friday of the week of the performance at the Advising Reception Desk in the Hutton Honors College.
Vouchers are available for pick up weekdays, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. in the Hutton Honors College, Room 115 B. To purchase the special price ticket, take the voucher to the MAC Ticket Office during box office hours, 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., weekdays, to purchase your ticket(s). Vouchers can be used ONLY for the performance of the date on the voucher. PLEASE NOTE: THE VOUCHER DOES NOT GUARANTEE TICKET AVAILABILITY; IT MEANS YOU ARE ELIGIBLE TO PURCHASE A TICKET AT THE REDUCED PRICE OF $10.
Be sure you have your student ID with you when you arrive at the Box Office. Students are encouraged to go to the MAC Box Office well in advance of the performance they wish to attend to redeem the voucher.
