All members of the Hutton Honors College are encouraged to work toward the Hutton Honors Notation, which is awarded in recognition of exceptional breadth and depth of intellectual inquiry as an undergraduate at Indiana University Bloomington. Recipients of the Notation are recognized at Honors Convocation and the distinction appears on their diploma and transcript.

Hutton Honors Notation requirements
These requirements apply to all students who joined the Hutton Honors College in Fall 2024 or later.
- HHC-H 101 and HHC-H 202: these two 1.5-credit gateway courses must be completed by the end of a student's second year in Hutton. Students are strongly recommended to complete at least 101 by the end of their first year.
- At least four 3-credit HON or HHC seminars or at least a minor in an external field (a certificate, second major, or second degree in an external field similarly satisfies this requirement).
- A senior thesis in their major or equivalent piece of independent research/writing or comparable creative activity. Latter two options must be approved in advance by the Office of the Dean of the Hutton Honors College.
- Submit an Hutton Honors Notation application the semester of your graduation.
- Graduate with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50
