Prospective Freshmen

How to qualify for direct admission

If you submit your completed application to IU Bloomington by November 1, you will automatically be considered for direct admission to the Hutton Honors College (HHC). All factors of your application will be considered, with the greatest emphasis placed on your grades earned in academic coursework; your performance in honors, dual-credit, International Baccalaureate, and Advanced Placement courses; your IU-specific essay; your extracurricular activities; and other achievements.

If you qualify for direct admission, you will receive notification four to five weeks after you are admitted to IU.

If you do not qualify for direct admission to the Hutton Honors College and/or if you have missed the November 1 deadline, you may petition for admission.

Scholarship opportunities

Incoming freshmen who apply to IU Bloomington by November 1 and qualify for direct admission to the Hutton Honors College are eligible to apply for the Hutton Honors College Scholarship. Continuing students may be eligible to apply for additional scholarship opportunities. For more information, see Scholarships and Grants & Awards.
