Lilly Library: Private Tour: Flora & Fauna; Shakespeare's First Folio
From the comic book collection of IU alum and Hollywood producer Michael E. Uslan to first editions of rare books, puzzles, the curious and the wondrous, the Lilly Library on the Indiana University Bloomington campus is one of the great academic archives and libraries in the USA. Join fellow students for a tour of the Lilly Library (https://libraries.indiana.edu/lilly-library).
Explore the new exhibit "Flora + Fauna: A Bounty of Beasts and Botanicals" and the Shakespeare exhibition in honor of the 400th anniversary of the first folio, which the Lilly Library owns, in addition to the typical treasures from the collections.

Join Sara Sidner, CNN’s award-winning national correspondent, for brunch and an informal conversation about the news she has covered around the world and the challenges she and other journalists face in covering complicated and often divisive issues in the U.S. and abroad. What are the barriers to getting the facts when not everyone agrees what the facts are? What ethical issues do journalists face when trying to provide balanced coverage? What role does investigative journalism play in providing what the public needs to know? To reserve a space at the brunch, please use the RSVP box at the bottom of this message.
Students are also invited to attend the Symposium on Investigative Journalism that will be hosted by IU’s Arnolt Center for Investigative Journalism on Thursday, Feb. 23, 1:30-7 p.m., in Presidents Hall in Franklin Hall. ESPN’s Paula Lavigne will deliver the keynote address at 5 p.m. Lavigne has covered sexual assault and other crimes in professional and college athletics, bribery in college basketball, fan food safety at professional ballparks, gambling on youth sports, fraudulent pro-athlete charities, athlete medical care, and many other topics in sports. Two panels will focus further on Investigative Journalism in Sports Reporting and on Emerging Models for Investigative Journalism with journalists from ESPN, ProPublica, Capital B, Investigate TV/Gray Television, and other media. Students are also invited to a Mixer with presenters, 6-7 p.m., in the Media School Commons, Franklin Hall. The symposium, which is co-sponsored by the Hutton Honors College, is free and open to all; and students are welcome to attend as much as their schedules permit. Registration for the Symposium is encouraged but not required.

SPECIAL-PRICE HHC STUDENT TICKETS FOR "Anne Frank": MARCH 3, 4, 9, 10 @ 7:30 PM, Musical Arts Center
IU Opera and Ballet Theater is offering HHC students a special, reduced ticket prices for all performances (except for The Nutcracker ballet) at the Musical Arts Center (MAC) during the Fall 2022 semester. The discount vouchers can be applied to one ticket per person. For any seat below the second balcony, for regularly priced performances, HHC students will pay $10. For the second balcony open seating, HHC students will pay $8.
You must stop by the box office prior to 5:00 PM on the day before the performance, at the latest.
Vouchers are available for pick up weekdays, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 5 p.m. in the Hutton Honors College, Room 115 B. To purchase the special price ticket, take the voucher to the MAC Ticket Office during box office hours, 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., weekdays, to purchase your ticket(s). There is a limited number of vouchers available through this program, so we encourage you to act promptly. Vouchers can be used ONLY for the performance of the date on the voucher. PLEASE NOTE: THE VOUCHER DOES NOT GUARANTEE TICKET AVAILABILITY; IT MEANS YOU ARE ELIGIBLE TO PURCHASE A TICKET AT THE REDUCED PRICE OF $8 for second balcony seating or $10 for any seat in the house below the second balcony.

Christina Hillsberg, Indiana University and Hutton Honors College alum, will discuss how her time at IU prepared her for life as a spy and how the lessons and techniques she learned, as a spy and linguist, continue to play a role in her life as she has pivoted to a career in Big Tech, and then to a career as a published author and speaker.

Mark your calendars! The 13th annual HHart Showcase is happening March 31st & April 1st at the Hutton Honors College. We are calling all artists, visual, performing arts, and written word to apply! Artist applications open February 5th, with a priority deadline February 19th for a guaranteed spot, and a general deadline March 12th. All IU students and staff are encouraged to apply!
