Graduating with Honors

Hutton Honors Notation requirements (updated)

these requirements will apply to all students who join Hutton in summer 2024 or later. Students who matriculated before summer 2024 may either follow the requirements in place when they started in Hutton or may follow the updated Notation structure.
  • HHC-H 101 and HHC-H 202: these two 1.5-credit gateway courses must be completed by the end of a student's second year in Hutton. Students are strongly recommended to complete at least 101 by the end of their first year.
  • At least four 3-credit HON or HHC seminars or at least a minor in an external field (a certificate, second major, or second degree in an external field similarly satisfies this requirement).
  • A senior thesis in their major or equivalent piece of independent research/writing or comparable creative activity. Latter two options must be approved in advance by the Office of the Dean of the Hutton Honors College.
  • Submit an Hutton Honors Notation application the semester of your graduation.
  • Graduate with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50
