HHC Scholarship

Hutton Honors College Scholarship

If you applied to IU Bloomington by November 1 and qualify for direct admission to our program, you will automatically be considered for an HHC Scholarship. Students selected to receive an HHC Scholarship will be notified in their IU Admissions Packet.

Application

If you are directly admitted but do not receive an automatic HHC Scholarship in your IU Admissions Packet, you may apply for Hutton-administered scholarship opportunities through the General Application.

You will receive an email from the Office of Admissions with details about your eligibility and the General Application. Follow the directions in this message to set up your IU account and view the programs and scholarships available to you. If you have any questions while filling out the General Application, please email iussa@indiana.edu for assistance.

Please note that incoming freshmen who automatically receive an HHC Scholarship through direct admission are not eligible to receive additional Hutton-administered scholarships through the General Application.

Selection

The Hutton Honors College reviews each application and will examine the quality of your high school program, the courses you have taken, the quality of your writing, and the nature of your extracurricular and leadership activities.

Awards range from $1,000 to $4,000 per year and are conditionally renewable.

Notification

Applicants selected to receive a scholarship from the Hutton Honors College will receive a notification via their IU email account no later than April 1st.

Eligibility

If you receive a Hutton Honors College scholarship as an incoming freshman, you can renew it for three years beyond your freshman year, as long as you satisfy all of these criteria:

  • remain enrolled as an undergraduate student in the Hutton Honors College at IU Bloomington
  • take at least 12 credit hours of courses each semester
  • maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.40

Special Note:  Some HHC Scholarships also require annual confirmation of FAFSA financial need to qualify for renewal. Please refer to your scholarship notification email for the exact renewal criteria of your particular award.

Important information for funding and scholarship applicants

If you filed the FAFSA and are receiving financial aid (for example: Direct Loans, Pell Promise grants, 21st Century Scholars Covenant), and you receive one of the Hutton Honors College's grants or scholarships, your award from the Hutton Honors College may not be paid-out in the form of cash funds (i.e., as money paid into your Bursar account), but instead, may be used by IU's Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) to reduce your student/parent loan burden or reduce your federal/state grant by the amount awarded to you by the HHC.

To learn how HHC funding may impact your financial aid, please contact OSFA at scu@indiana.edu. Also, please refer to OSFA for information regarding study abroad and financial aid.
